Fine example of the model no. 1160 VITESSE car mascot, also known as Speed or Femme Nue
Representing speed, the Lalique Vitesse mascot was created in 1929, presented as a hood ornament and perhaps the most beautiful of Lalique's radiator cap designs.
Offered here is a fine example in clear glass with no chips, grinding or restoration, exhibiting a lovely grey hue and silky feel to the glass. Some mold lines and polishing thereof are apparent as part of the production technique of the time along with some minor air bubbles. Wonderful quality.
Strongly molded ‘R. LALIQUE’ with double-tailed Q above the base and faintly molded 'FRANCE' to the opposite side.
