Lalique Wild Boar Car Mascot
Fine example of the model no. 1157 Sanglier Wild Boar car mascot in the rare fume (smokey grey) coloured glass.

Somehow both naturalistic and impressionistic, Lalique's represention of the Sanglier or Wild Boar, which would have been prevalent in the area around the Wingen-sur-Moder factory in 1929, presented as a René Lalique hood ornament.

Offered here is a fine example in fume or grey coloured glass, which suits the model so well, with no chips, grinding or restoration and exhibiting very good mold quality. Some mold lines and polishing thereof and straw marks are apparent as part of the production technique of the time along with some minor air bubbles.

Molded ‘R. LALIQUE FRANCE’ with double-tailed Q between the two right legs and R. LALIQUE FRANCE stencil mark to the underside of the base.

Length 9.3cm
