Model no. 1145 LIBELLULE GRANDE or large dragonfly mascot
Designed in 1928 a stunning representation of a dragonfly with wings upright as a René Lalique radiator cap.
Offered here is a wonderful example in clear glass exhibiting fine defintion and lovely hue to the glass with grey patina.
It is becoming extremely difficult to find examples of the Grande Libellule without damage or polishing to the edges and tips of both the wing and tail. This is a great specimen.
No chips, grinding or restoration. Some mold lines and air bubbles are apparent as part of the production technique of the time.
Molded ‘R. LALIQUE’ below the tail on the side section above the base and 'FRANCE’ on the right-hand side (both faint). Finely engraved 'R. Lalique France' along the left-hand side of the tail.
