Lalique Spirit of the Wind Car Mascot
Fine example of the model no. 1147 Victoire or Spirit of the Wind mascot

The last of the Lalique radiator caps created in 1928, this powerful and symbolic design presented as a René Lalique hood ornament. This model was only ever marketed and sold as a car mascot and not also as a paperweight or statuette.

Offered here is an excellent example in clear glass exhibiting good mold quality and a greyish hue and wonderful silky feel to the glass. Superb.

No chips, grinding or restoration. Some mold lines are apparent as part of the production technique of the time. This particular example has maybe ten air bubbles of various sizes, some close to the surface of the glass, again typical for the period and adding to the character of the piece.

Strong molded ‘R. LALIQUE’ with double-tailed Q on rear left top of the base and faintly molded 'FRANCE’ on the right.

Length 25.6cm
