Fine example of the model no. 1143 Hirondelle or swallow mascot
Designed in 1928 a stunning and realistic representation of a swallow as a René Lalique radiator cap.
Offered here is a wonderful example in clear glass exhibiting good mold quality and a lovely greyish hue to the glass.
On this example the claws have been ground from the edge of the base in order to facilitate mounting in the period correct Breve’s illuminated mount. The mascot is fully removable from the mount and there is no damage to the piece or the base. Some mold lines and air bubbles are apparent as part of the production technique of the time.
Molded ‘R. LALIQUE’ and 'FRANCE’ above the base at the rear of the mascot.
Height 15cm (20cm including mount)
